CITY OF PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA REGULAR MEETING OF THE TREE ADVISORY COMMITTEE City Hall Council Chamber 11 English Street Petaluma, CA 94952 MINUTES Wednesday, September 18, 2024 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL PRESENT: Bill Cover, Eberle Ewing, Taryn Obaid, Darren Racusen, Roger McErlane, Marianne Bertuccelli ABSENT: Howard Formby GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT During General Public Comment, the public is invited to make comments on items of public interest that are within the City Council’s subject matter jurisdiction and that are not listed on the current agenda. Public comments are limited up to three minutes per person. Depending on the number of persons wishing to address the Council, time will be allocated in equal shares totaling no more than twenty minutes, subject to the Council’s discretion (Cal. Gov’t. Code §54954.3(a), Petaluma City Council Rules, Policies and Procedures, III). APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Approval of Minutes for the meeting of August 21, 2024 Minutes deemed as approved. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION 2. Street Tree Ad Hoc Committee Progress Update Committee Member Ewing stated the last meeting was in February. Communication and Outreach Ad Hoc Committee Progress Update Committee Member Obaid shared an update with the Committee highlighting on three primary items, Tree Protection Ordinance, Research with other Tree Cities, and PG&E updates on tree projects, and assisting homeowners with tree maintenance education. Proud of work they’ve accomplished. Committee Comments Bertuccelli McErlane No Public Comment Planning Design AdHoc Subcommittee (Establish an Ad Hoc Subcommittee 4. to assist staff in researching development review criteria for projects). Chair Racusen explained this agenda item to the committee Committee Members McErlane, Bertuccelli, and Chair Racusen were nominated. Chair Racusen declined. Committee Members McErlane and Bertuccelli accepted. Motion to form this Ad Hoc Committee with two members, with a third member to be decided at a future meeting: Motion: Ewing Second: Bertuccelli Vote: 6-0 No Public Comment 5. Arbor Day-Treestival Ad Hoc Subcommittee (Establish an Ad Hoc Subcommittee to assist staff in programming Arbor Day 2025). Committee and Staff Liaison discussed overview of the event, items to consider, and upcoming planning options.
