CITY OF PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA REGULAR MEETING OF THE RECREATION, MUSIC & PARKS COMMISSION City Hall Council Chamber 11 English Street Petaluma, CA 94952 MINUTES Wednesday, March 19, 2025 CALL TO ORDER Chair Earl called the meeting to order at 6:02pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL PRESENT: Marianne Bertuccelli, Cody Chisham, Stacey Earl, Megan Kelly, Hannah Rizzo Simmons,Alex DeCarli AGENDA CHANGES AND DELETIONS None. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT During General Public Comment, the public is invited to make comments on items of public interest that are within the City Council’s subject matter jurisdiction and that are not listed on the current agenda. Public comments are limited up to three minutes per person. Depending on the number of persons wishing to address the Council, time will be allocated in equal shares totaling no more than twenty minutes, subject to the Council’s discretion (Cal. Gov’t. Code §54954.3(a), Petaluma City Council Rules, Policies and Procedures, III). Chair Earl opened general public comment. Nina Zhito Chair Earl closed general public comment. Recreation, Music, and Parks Commission to Recommend the City Council Consider Renaming Center Park to Historic Chinatown Park in Recognition of Geographic Significance and Historical Contributions – Jonathan Luong, Senior Management Analyst from the Community Development Department, and community members Lina Hoshino, and Frank Chong shared this presentation with the commission. Motion to send our recommendation to City Council to rename Center Park as Historic Chinatown Park made by Commissioner Rizzo Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Chisolm Vote: Carried 6-0 Yes: Vice-Chair Bertuccelli, Commissioner Chisham, Chair Earl, Commissioner Kelly, Commissioner Rizzo Simmons, Councilmember DeCarli No: None Absent: Commissioner Greenspan Recused: None 3. Adopt- A -Park Program - Review, Discuss, and Provide a Recommendation on Two Park Sites and Dates for the 2025 Adopt-A- Park - Events Based Pilot Program - Cindy Chong, Superintendent of Parks and Facilities Staff Member Cindy Chong asked for a straw poll for 2025 Adopt-A-Park program location and date nominations. Top 2 parks were 1: Steamer Landing 2: Lucchesi. Top 2 dates were 1: July 27th 2: November 8th.
